Velvet Sky Now Flying to Port Elizabeth

Date: 1 December 2011

Velvet Sky Airline has added a route to Port Elizabeth, as well as a route from Durban to Cape Town, to its schedule. Since its launch, the low cost airline has serviced the so-called golden triangle, with flights between Johannesburg and Durban and Johannesburg and Cape Town. The additional route to Port Elizabeth will be available to travellers flying from Durban and from Cape Town, with flights on the route between Durban and Cape Town  stopping over in Port Elizabeth.

Currently, the route between Durban and Port Elizabeth is only serviced by two carriers, British Airways and SA Express. Velvet Sky will be the first low cost airline to offer flights on this route, and one-way flights on this route are expected to cost in the region of R440.

Velvet Sky has also increased its flight frequency on the Johannesburg - Cape Town route to 7 daily flights on peak days, to cope with the increased demand for flights on this route during the holiday period. It has also acquired 2 additional Boeing 737 aeroplanes, doubling the size of its fleet
